Friday Five: 2.15.19

I am so excited to be launching my first blog series—the Friday Five! Here’s how it’s going to work. Every Friday, I’m going to show up here and post about five things, whether that be products I’m obsessing over, a podcast or show I’m into, an item off my wish list that I want to share, answering questions I’ve been asked, etc. Basically, if you want to know something about me or get my opinion on anything, ask away! This will be so fun. 😍

To kick off the series, here’s this week’s Friday Five:

1. Penny’s Birthday

It’s no secret that our corgi, Penny, is treated like a human child in our home. Not sorry! Yesterday was her birthday and I used this recipe to make her a little birthday cake, which she totally loved. I made it in a round, 8-inch pan, and then used a heart-shaped cookie cutter to  cut three little “layers” for her. For frosting, I mixed some plain greek yogurt and peanut butter (HUGE hit). Those are shredded carrots on top as “sprinkles,” of course. 😂She was in heaven and so were we spoiling her. Wow do I love my little bestie/companion/coworker so very much. (Also, do you remember Penny’s first birthday? SO cute.)

2. My Sorel Boots

My mom gave these to me at some point in college and I swear they’re still just as amazing as the day I got them. I wear them literally every day in the tundra that is our great state of Iowa. This is the pair I have, which is $60 cheaper than usual right now and an absolute steal for the quality. Great traction, so warm, and stands up to all the slush, salt, snow, and gunk that comes with winter.

3. Kacey Musgraves

I get really amped up about music after the Grammys (and trips to Nashville AND after watching A Star is Born). I’d already downloaded Kacey’s “Space Cowboy” and “High Horse,” but her killing it all night and winning everything pushed me to download the whole album and embrace her talent. WOW THAT VOICE. I’m so into it. My new favorites are “Slow Burn” and “Oh, What a World.” She’ll be at Hinterland, in our very own Iowa, in August which is just another reason to go full fangirl. I’ve got to be there! What about you…Have you been a fan forever? Are there songs pre-Golden Hour that I should know about besides her Christmas album?!

4. These Pretty White CB2 Shelves

These shelves have had my attention for so long. I am so obsessed with their skinny supports and overall shape. I have hand-me-down ladder shelves in my home (which I’m very thankful for, Mom), but these seem like such a fresh, modern take on those. They make me want to open up a store just to line the walls with these babies and fill them up with beautiful products.  In a home, I’d LOVE to use these against dark walls, but they’d also be perfect in a minimalistic space with all white walls. Ahhhhh so many options for these pretties.

5. The Bachelor

I’ve tuned in randomly throughout the years, but have never consistently tuned in. I now understand why it’s so successful…it’s such an addictive show!! I love Hannah G. and think Cassie seems pretty great, too. I was confused and so sad when Elyse left. HOWEVER, I still think it’s the cheesiest thing ever and Colton has n.o.t.h.i.n.g on my roomie. 😉 Are you watching?! Who do you love?
