Friday Five: 7.19.19

July 19, 2019

As the temps keep climbing this weekend and an “excessive heat warning” scrolls across my TV, I’m so thankful for our working A/C. Prior to moving into this home, I lived in a third floor apartment with no A/C. I eventually bought an intense standing window A/C unit, but I cannot imagine living there in this heat even with that. It was a steamy, adorable place to live and such a fun time of my life, but I am so G R A T E F U L to be in our cool home with Ryan and Penny now. 🄰 ..and for popsicles.

Here are this week’s 5!

1. My Next Guest Needs No Introduction

We watched the Ellen DeGeneres interview on David Letterman’s Netflix show this week and are excited to watch more interviews soon. I love the rawness and the conversational parts of this show. I’m fascinated by Ellen and this was yet another wonderful way to get a peek into her life. Way to go, David Letterman! It’s nice to hear the real stuff in a world of celebrity. Ā Ā

2. Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade from Starbucks

If you’re addicted to spending money at Starbucks, I’d recommend trying out this yummy iced drink to battle the humid and hot weather this weekend! I ordered it one day on a whim and was so pleasantly surprised by how refreshing it was! Give it a try and bring your own iced drink glass to help out our pal, Mother Earth. šŸ˜‰

Didn’t have my reusable glass. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
3. Sharing the Imperfect Spaces (+ Moments)

I struggle with wanting to share most of our home right now because it doesn’t look like the interior design accounts I follow on Instagram. That’s ridiculous. We love our home even though it’s very imperfect, so I’ve been trying to encourage myself to share more home shots. Chris Loves Julia is always pushing ā€œdon’t waitā€ to do anything, but especially to share and enjoy your spaces whether or not they’re “done.” Here’s to being more brave in terms of what I choose to share.

4. Codenames

We were first introduced to this game by some of our best friends last year. A few weeks ago at the lake, this game reentered our lives with a huge group eager to play. We had so much fun and decided hats and sunglasses were 100% required to hide eyes completely—the concept of the game is to get your team to guess words based on one word clues before the other team. Last weekend, we broke it out again with friends and actually read the directions. WOW. The game is even better when you’re playing it correctly. šŸ˜‚ Our friends got it back out later that night to play again they loved it so much. Give Codenames a shot!

5. Never Ending Story from Stranger Things

When Gaten Matarazzo and Gabriella Pizzolo did a little duet to this catchy ā€˜80s hit over walkie talkies, I was hooked. At the end of the final episode of this new season, the roomie looks over to me and says ā€œthat’s a pretty catchy song.ā€ Cue me listening to it nonstop all week. Turns out, the sweet Stranger Things version of the Limahl song is on Apple Music. Every day I have sung it around the house or in the shower. It’s a dangerously addictive song.

Stay cool this weekend, friends! ā˜€ļø
