I am truly shocked that it is June already, but loving that the humidity and sunshine kicked in to officially kick off the month. Summer is HERE, my friends! This week was a whirlwind, as most summer weeks and weekends are: video work, lots of cleaning and organizing around our home, walks with Penny, entertaining kiddos ages 8 mo.–5 y.o., an impromptu family dinner, multiple lengthy sessions at the Apple Store, and so much more. Grateful for it all. ❤️
Here’s my Friday Five for this week!
1. Stillwater, MN
I’ve spent a decent amount of time in Minnesota, but had never ventured over to Stillwater until last weekend for a friend’s wedding! We loved making a weekend of the trip and exploring the area. Stillwater reminds me of Galena, Illinois, but it’s all nestled around the Mississippi River. I loved exploring antique shops, boutiques, and candy shops with my girlfriends while Ryan and the boys crossed the river to buy Spotted Cow in Wisconsin! There seems to be great restaurants, bars and (expensive) hotels throughout the area, as well. We’ll be visiting again!
2. This Chic, Moody Lamp
Lamps are expensive, sometimes—this one is $178. I stumbled upon it on Wayfair and seriously can’t believe how gorgeous it looks. I imagine this looking amazing in a moody room with deep colored walls. It’s just such. a. stunner. 😍
3. Ryan’s Chicken Fried Rice
We don’t really eat leftovers around here. We are well aware that this habit of ours isn’t something to brag about, but you need to understand that before I tell you the next thing. I ate leftovers BY CHOICE this week twice. The roomie kills it when he whips up this yummy dish. I always love it and he’s progressively improving it, I swear. Here’s the recipe for you to try for yourself!
4. Walks with Penny
We rarely walk our corgi, Penny. She has a great backyard and runs back and forth with the neighbor dogs multiple times a day most days. We also play and run around with her inside. This week, I tried a thing and actually walked her almost every day at least once. It was so wonderful! I loved enjoying our neighborhood and the weather, but mostly I loved the quality time with my pup since we’re apart more than usual during the summer. Cross your fingers that our walks become a habit! 🤞🏻
5. These Amazing Summer Slides
I think I found the best summer pair of shoes for anyone who thinks of comfort just as much as style. These Sperry slides are everything I’ve dreamt of for a pair of shoes to slip in and out of to chase dogs, nanny kids, and lake activities all summer. They are basically trendy versions of the Adidas lightweight slides most people know of. Plus, they’re only $39.95. One of my BFFs and I bought the exact same pair together (how 3rd grade cute are we?!) and are both in love. The gold is so pretty and makes me feel weirdly tan!
Have a great weekend! Looks like it’s going to be hot and lovely around here. Can’t wait to enjoy it! ☀️
