This week brought us tons of family time, great meals, lots of the Moana soundtrack (with my nanny girls), walks with Penny, working nights, and so much more. Although busy, this week felt full of life and we’re so grateful for that. This season of life is a bright one that we’re working hard to be fully present during. ❤️
Here are this week’s 5 things!
1. A New Coffee Cake Recipe
This week I got to host a little coffee date for a couple family members before they got on the road! It was the perfect opportunity to break out my bundt cake pan. 😉 I whipped up a cinnamon coffee cake (without sour cream) and used this recipe. It got rave reviews! My guests asked for seconds and my nanny girls said it was the “BEST cake ever.” I even shared with my neighbor and brother-in-law. Make some! It keeps for a few days, so you could nibble on it all week.
2. This Podcast Episode
I usually enjoy Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger podcast, but I admittedly skip episodes pretty regularly. This week, I hit play on an episode that I needed as my busy season picks up and life in general starts moving at a quicker pace. Episode 261, “5 Tips to Structure Your Work Day and Stay Productive” offers tips for people working for themselves, working in a cubicle, working at home, etc. Everyone could benefit from this quick 24 minutes of tips from Jenna. Tune in here!
3. Rainy Days at Home
I get that the rain is a downer. I’m not arguing, but I will say that it can be so soothing. I had my nanny girls at my house this week on Tuesday and our home was my sanctuary. ☺️ A clean home, lamp light, fresh coffee, little voices playing, the smell of freshly baked coffee cake, a sleepy dog, and Norah Jones softly singing throughout the house made for the most therapeutic day. I will remember Norah Jones and baking on future rainy days.
4. My Glass To-Go Coffee Cup
I know it’s getting into the season where everyone drinks cold drinks, but I still love the ritual of a good hot beverage, myself. It’s probably mostly a sentimental thing, but I love this porcelain travel coffee mug so much. I snagged it at the airport in Phoenix as we were heading home from my bachelorette party in December and every time I use it I think of all my girlfriends and how lucky I am to have them behind me in whatever I do. BUT, I also love the weight and feel of this mug. The twisty top is easy to use and, more importantly, to clean. If you’re waiting in line at a Starbucks and see a mug in this style, I don’t think you’ll regret the impulse buy. I use mine regularly and still love it 6+ months later. Here’s the closest to-go mug I can find to mine online.
5. THE ROOMIE’s BIRTHDAY
Ryan is 28! I’m excited for his next year of life. While 27, he scored a new job that he adores, proposed to me, left the country for the first time, married me, spent lots of time with friends and family, visited three new countries and two new states, got a new car, perfected the thick cut New York Strip (😂), and moved his brother to Des Moines to be closer to us! I can only imagine all he’ll do, see, learn, and accomplish at 28! Love you, babe. xx
Wishing you a weekend full of fun! Thanks for following along with us! 😘
