This week has felt full of nothing and everything all at once. Do you ever have weeks like that? I had a whole list of things to do, but none of it had to be done now so I had some time to relax but not without a wave of guilt periodically passing over. All week I felt like I did in these spinning pictures last weekend—having fun, but also falling over. 😂
Here are the 5 things charging through my mind throughout this strange week:
1. Our CB2 Runner
This indigo blue runner was a gift from our wedding registry (did you catch my blog post on wedding registries?) that I thought of this week and pulled out from storage. I still am in love with the pattern and am thrilled to report that the backordered matching cloth napkins arrived in the mail this week to join the fun! Conveniently, our runner is no longer available 🙄, but here’s a link to CB2’s other table linens if you’re interested. The black and white grid runner they have now is such a hit. I struggle with runners for my white table since I have a rust/red rug in here and blue walls. It’s a lot going on, but this runner seems to be complementing the vibe so far. 🤷🏻♀️
2. Green Book
During award season, this movie looked totally up my alley. Rooted in history but packed with character, fun, and drama. At a movie night this week, we watched the film in my friend’s AMAZING little home theater. So cozy, super company, such yummy popcorn, but this movie was the real highlight. It upset me, as it should, to see the gross discrimination in a time period that doesn’t feel far enough away, but it also was such a phenomenal reminder to always give people chances as you have no idea what they’re walking through. ❤️ And to be as kind as possible, always, even when someone has wronged you. Go watch it.
3. Our New Ferns
I’ve had a couple ferns in the past and easily killed them. One fried right up in the backyard sun and another I kept inside and let slowly die until I made a push to save it. I’m now finally seeing some new growth after trying to revive it in a new, sunny spot for the past 3 months. That being said, the roomie and I picked up two pretty ferns at Home Depot on Sunday and I still have them sitting in their plastic hanging pots on both sides of our back door. I love the look of them here and need to get heavier pots to keep them from blowing over. My mom and aunt are so good at caring for ferns. They keep our lake ferns alive all year somehow and my mom always has beautiful ferns on her front porch. I’ll let you know if I pick up on any of their plant know-how with these new guys.
4. Babydoll-Style Everything
Lately, every time I seek out a link to something a fashion blogger is wearing, it’s always a babydoll top. What can I say, I’m into the style! I am dying to get this shirt from Urban Outfitters, but I also love this tank from American Eagle. If you have either, let me know if you think they’re flattering on a regularly sized person’s body! 🤞🏻 I need them.
5. Long Overdue Projects
Maybe ‘long overdue’ is too dramatic. This week, Ryan hung a beautiful framed photo that has been waiting for a home since our wedding, I spray-painted cheap, not-so-cute pots that have been sitting in the garage for far too long, and we collectively made progress on a home project coming to the blog soon. Getting little things done usually leads to major project creep for me, so we’ll see what else changes by next Friday. 😂
If you need me, I’ll be babysitting my plant babies as the temperatures dip tomorrow. We were planning to head up to the lake today, but a chance of snow in the forecast up there easily convinced us to hang at home and conquer some projects here. 🤫 Wishing you a fun and productive weekend of your own!
