Friday Five: 3.15.19

March 15, 2019

It’s Friday! We made it! I’m so happy to be back here on the blog with you all this week for the Friday Five. As much as I loved skipping around Europe and getting to see my sister, I am happy to be home and without plans for a bit. I love travel, but there’s nothing quite like home. ❤️

Neither of us had ever been to Venice! We could hardly believe our eyes. 😍

1. Two New(ish) Songs

On the plane ride home from Philadelphia on Sunday, I let these three songs play on repeat over and over and over. I’ve always been a big James Bay fan! Saw him in concert twice when he toured for his first album, but I’m still trying to fall in love with his latest album. This single with Julia Michaels feels like his roots, though, and I can’t stop listening. Thanks for recommending it, sis!

One of my girlfriends (hi, Ber!) shared that she was loving “The Bones” by Maren Morris on Instagram a few weeks ago and I don’t think I’m stopped jamming to it in my car since. I love the lyrics and the concept of the whole song. It’s how I feel about marriage! Check it out.

2. Butter Bronzer, a Drugstore Bronzer

It’s no secret that I am an extremely fair-skinned (PALE) person. I love the “Oslo” filter on Instagram stories to help me out a little, but I wasn’t blessed with much color when it comes to skin pigmentation. I asked my cousin, who is always beautifully bronzed, for a bronzer recommendation since I’ve never loved what I’ve bought at Bare Minerals and Sephora. She pointed me toward this Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I picked it up at Target and I am in love. It even makes me look a little sun-kissed and it smells incredible—somehow like a beach! I struggle in the makeup department, so many of you may already be using this brand, but it’s even being promoted on an endcap at my Target. If you haven’t yet, try it out! 🙂

3. This Refreshing Cocktail

I did the grocery shopping this week (which never happens) and I bought blackberries and mint leaves to see if we could make fun cocktails like the ones I’ve seen on Pinterest! When the roomie got home from work, I declared it happy hour and pulled out the ingredients I’d picked up. I told him my basic idea—to do a gin soda concoction or some type of blackberry margarita—and he made this yummy blackberry and lemon gin and tonic. He was excited to make a new drink with the bar tools we got off our registry and it was fun to do a little in-home cocktail hour. We recommend the drink and concept! 🙂

4. Our Indoor Nest Camera

From being in Europe to just spending a couple nights away from home, our Nest camera really comforts me. The roomie and I like being able to check in when we’re away and getting notifications if there’s any movement in our living room when neither of us are at home. I, personally, love talking to Penny through it!! She doesn’t love this concept, but it’s fun for me if I’m away from her during the day. 🤷🏻‍♀️We also have the Nest thermostat and a couple of the Nest Protects, so the Nest app in general gives us a sense of security when it comes to our home.

5. Chicks in the Office

I’m featuring this duo last because if you don’t care about celebrity gossip and aren’t a twenty-something, this might not be your style. The roomie discovered Ria and Fran from Chicks in the Office (a Barstool Sports program) and told me I needed to follow them on Instagram since they were talking about all the same stuff I try to talk to him about. 😂Too funny. I love their little 1-minute Bachelor recaps on Instagram and anything they talk about that’s Kardashian-related. If you’re looking for some relatable entertainment on Instagram, find them at @chicksintheoffice. They also have a bi-weekly podcast that I’ve hardly tested out, but I’m sure it’s great! Good find, Ryan.

Happy to be home with my BFF, Penny! ❤️

Hope to see you back here early next week! Have the very best weekend, pals. As always, thank you so much for following along on my blogging journey. 😘
