Way back after we announced our baby boy was on the way, I made the decision to have a couple of my baby showers a little earlier than other expecting mamas maybe would. I was 28.5 weeks pregnant! My reasoning, at the time, was to have a clear idea as soon as I could of what I still needed for the nursery/newborn life AND to appear less swollen in pictures. 😂
Turns out, that choice was an immense blessing. Had we scheduled those out any later, I would likely have had them canceled due to all of this COVID-19 social distancing. We also took ownership of our house the Monday after the weekend of showers…so things really timed out beautifully for us and we are so thankful.
Both of my showers–one thrown by and for my mom’s amazing friends, the second thrown by my cousin’s thoughtful wife for my dad’s side of the family–were the same weekend and were wonderful! Let’s start with the one thrown on Saturday.
Hot Air Balloon Baby Shower
The Saturday morning shower was beautiful and full of personal touches that made me so happy. 💙I was immediately given a little wrist corsage that made me feel so special and got alllllll the hugs, which I’m even more thankful for now that those are a no-no.
As for food, mini parfaits and yummy donuts were served as well as mimosas (just OJ for me!) in cute flutes with candy pacifiers on them! It was the perfect spread for the morning and really hit the spot.
My aunt provided the games and they were SO fun—mostly because they weren’t all about me. 😂 She found templates on Etsy and we all competed to finish nursery rhymes, match Disney characters with their parents (so tricky!), unscramble letters to make baby terms, and guess the names of baby animals (ex. a kid is a baby goat). It was such a blast!
Lastly, I opened all the sweet baby gifts my mom’s friends brought and had the best time cooing over it all. We passed around all the cute little outfits and toys, which kept everyone entertained.
Hilariously, my final baby shower that was supposed to be thrown by and for my friends also was supposed to be hot air balloon themed! Turns out, my loved ones know me very well. 💕
Fiesta Baby Shower
I’ll say it, I’m beyond excited for a spicy margarita after this little guy decides to make an appearance. SO, so excited. And overall, I love any type of cuisine that gives you an excuse to eat a bunch of chips with salsa and guacamole pre-meal! This shower theme was a perfect choice for me by my cousin’s wife, who I consider to just be my cousin, Dixie. ❤️
Dixie had fresh margaritas ready to go for all of the non-pregnant guests at the baby shower which obviously set the tone for a great luncheon! The table was perfectly decorated with a fun tablecloth, succulents, cacti, and chips and salsa all ready to be munched on. Gosh, I love when food can also serve as fun décor!
The taco bar had every topping you could dream up and mixed fruit cups. It was fun to go through the line and make our tacos since we all had these super cool personal trays—kind of like these ones from Target. They worked so well with a sheet of butcher paper on them and made it feel like we were at a restaurant. For dessert, we had homemade strawberry and lime sorbet and wow was it refreshing.
After stuffing ourselves with fresh guac and cool sorbet, it was gift opening time. Baby got some really special homemade gifts and some great books from the women at the shower and it was so fun to celebrate together.
Turns out, baby showers are a million times better than bridal showers because all the attention is on the baby! Not on you. 😉 I’m so grateful I was able to have a couple baby showers to celebrate such a meaningful time in life. Babies are the best way to bring people together! 🤗
